What Being “GREEN” Means To Me

What is being green?  What does it mean to you?  What is the being green definition?  Their is no real definition of being green. To me, being green is a movement, and for some people a way of life.  Its a movement based on choice and in some cases sacrifice. I am not a person that preaches his beliefs or pushes people to change, after all I am a person who tries to be green, but doesn’t want to change his life style. I can be contradicting by nature, for example I want to save the environment but I drive a big diesel truck ( I do tow  a large RV & quad trailers whenever I can), I am anti-corporate but own two businesses, I like to work out but afterwords I enjoy having a a few home made organic beers. To me being green is an addition to my life style. I make the choice to be green with daily purchases and actions. I don’t do drastic changes (unless my wife insists), after all this is a movement. A movement that will take time to change the way society thinks, much like the seat belt laws and the anti-drinking and driving movements. Is it to harsh to compare the green movement to drinking and driving or not wearing a seat belt? Is it not second nature to put on a seat belt when getting into your vehicle? Is it not against the social rule to drive after having a few to many drinks?  These are both choices that most people make subconsciously, they just don’t do it. Twenty to thirty years ago these where choices people made daily. I would like to see the green movement become a subconscious movement, something that is done daily by most people, not because they are supposed to, but because it is the right thing to do! To me being “GREEN” is a new action that will grow past being a movement and become second nature to all.
